Greetings and Salutations to All my Kith and Kin and All the Ships in Outer Space:

On this day, Thursday 24 October 2013, the puzzles at the MERRIAM-WEBSTER web site are unusually good.

In particular, the "UNIVERSAL CRYPTOGRAM" puzzle was grrrr-REAT, and a real intellectual challenger, for it took me at least a half dozen frustrating, mind boggling attempts before I finally solved it.

Normally, that "UNIVERSAL CRYPTOGRAM" is so easy, that I solve it within about a minute or two, and with only one attempt.

The MERRIAM-WEBSTER web site archives the "UNIVERSAL CRYPTOGRAM" puzzles, so you can go do today's puzzle anytime.

But, the MERRIAM-WEBSTER web site does NOT archive the "DICTIONARY DEVIL" puzzle, which is my most FAVORITE puzzle of all, so if you want to solve today's puzzle, you must go to the MERRIAM WEBSTER web site TODAY, right NOW, this very minute, and click on the "QUIZZES AND GAMES" menu, located at the top of the screen.

I usually solve the "DICTIONARY DEVIL" puzzle on my first attempt.

BUT - - - ,

There have been a few times when it took me a couple of attempts before I solved it, and ONCE, it actually outsmarted me, for on that particular occasion, I actually was unable to solve it at all!

Can you believe it?

Have fun, y'all!

Thank you.
