***********
ROY E. PICKEL was one of the original members of Company "E", 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the famed 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles", which parachuted behind enemy lines in Normandy during the pre-dawn darkness of D-Day, Tuesday 06 June 1944, as featured in the "BAND OF BROTHERS" television series.

ROY E. PICKEL passed away here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday 02 January 2008.

He autographed my personal copy of the 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION "SCREAMING EAGLES" history book, and gave me a photograph of him when he was a young trooper in training.

He has a son, Roy E. Pickel, Junior, currently residing with his wife, Natalie, in San Jose, California.

Thank you.
