Tuesday 19 January 2010 will be the two hundred and third birthday of General ROBERT EDWARD LEE, Commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America.


"It is well this (war) is so terrible.

We should grow too fond of it."

That was stated by General Robert Edward Lee, commanding the Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America, during the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia on 13 December 1862.

To further honor and emulate the valiant life, words, and deeds of General Robert Edward Lee, Commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America, Monday 18 January 2010 will be an official federal holiday.


According to his genealogy, Robert Edward Lee is a direct descendent of Robert the Bruce, the King of Scotland.
