Greetings and Salutations to All my Kith and Kin and All the Ships in Outer Space:

On Monday 11 September 2006, at the YAHOO! web site, Sammyleggs222 posed the following question for general discussion:

"We will all remember 11 September 2001.

"What were you doing when you heard about it and how did you feel at that moment?

"I was getting ready for my college teaching day and my oldest son came up stairs and told me that New York City was being attacked and the World Trade Center was burning.
"I didn't believe him.
"So I went to the kitchen where he was watching television and saw the news coverage for one minute before the second plane slammed into Tower Two.
I was totally shocked, sick and numb - - - "

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

"I am thankful to all who are sharing their memories and thoughts on 11 September 2006 - - - at this point there are so far four hundred twenty-six (426) comments and/or stories.

"I plan to read them all.
"We will never forget this horrendous deed as we pray for the heroes, the innocent people who died and the families they left behind on that day five years ago."

Here was my response:
I was serving a rather unorthodox full-time mission for the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints (i.e., the "Mormon" church), as a gunslinger, with my partner, "Ringo", a border collie dog, patrolling the "ROCKING G" cattle ranch on the banks of the Green River in Jensen, Utah.

On the morning of 11 September 2001, I staggered from my bed to my computer to check my e-mail.

One of the e-mails was from somebody I didn't recognize, saying "we should all donate blood".

Another very strange e-mail from another person I didn't recognize said something about a "car bomb in front of the State Department", and that there were lots of injuries.

So, I went to the Drudge Report web site, and what I saw made me think that the Drudge Report web site had been hacked, and somebody was playing a very sick joke on the Internet.

The Drudge Report web site showed a photograph of a jet airliner crashing into a skyscraper, and headline after headline referred to horrendous airline skyjackings, crashes, and multitudes of deaths.

So, being suspicious of what I was seeing at the Drudge Report web site, I turned on my television and watched the live reports, while flipping from channel to channel.

The televised images with the greatest impact on my mind were when the man and woman holding hands leapt to their death from the burning towers.

I had great interest in the crash at the Pentagon because I am a retired disabled war veteran, and prior to going to Utah to serve my Church mission, I had been living in Washington, D.C. at the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home (since renamed the Armed Forces Retirement Home), and after my Church mission was successfully completed, I returned to the Soldiers' Home in Washington, D.C.

While guarding the ranch, I continued exchanging e-mails with my buddies who were living at the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home.

They informed me that four (04) members of the Board of Governors of the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home had been killed when the plane crashed into the Pentagon.

They also told me that two (02) huge garbage trucks or dump trucks were parked at the main gate of the Soldiers' Home, to block any speeding vehicles from crashing through onto the grounds.

By the way, no matter how many times the official name gets changed, virtually everybody in the District of Columbia megalopolis area continues to call this place the "Soldiers' Home".

Via e-mail, my buddies also kept me apprised of the anthrax and ricin attacks, which caused lots of problems with delivery of U.S. "snail" mail to residents at the Soldiers' Home.

For instance, they (and I, after I returned) couldn't receive financial statements in time to file income taxes and pay bills, or mail that was received would be unreadable because of radiation burns resulting from preventive scanning.

To try and solve the problem, the zip code for the Soldiers' Home was changed at least three (03) times, and now everything is pretty much back to normal.

I remember watching on television, President Bush addressing the joint session of Congress.

I remember he said this war was different from all others, because we might not see the end of it in our lifetimes, and that this war would be global and largely clandestine, with many heroes whom we would never know about, because of secrecy.

So, I'm surprised that American citizens act so foolishly and exhibit such short memories, thinking and demanding the war should already be over and won, and that we should know all the details.

On the other hand, I will never patronize another airport or fly on a commercial airliner, nor will I ever again visit a public building in Washington, D.C., such as the White House or Capitol.

No, I'm not afraid of terrorism.

It's just the opposite.

I think it's criminally irresponsible and so typical of government tyranny (Communists, Nazis, Fascists, or whatever) that our elected and appointed officials deliberately use the attacks of 11 September 2001 as an excuse for depriving American citizens of their inalienable rights guaranteed by the "CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES", which is supposed to be the supreme law of the land.

I'm a strong believer of the basic principle that American citizens would be safer if EVERYBODY wore a loaded firearm everywhere they went, including while flying on commercial airliners or visiting Washington, D.C.

How will we individual American citizens get our freedom restored?

What can we do to punish those bureaucrats and politicians who have usurped powers not authorized by our "CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES"?

How many Americans today know the definition of "inalienable rights"?

So, what are your thoughts regarding this event?
What do you rememember about 11 September 2001, and how were you personally affected?
Do you perceive a threat to our personal liberty from our own government?
Thank you.
