During the 1970's, I was trained as a Cavalry Scout (Military Occupational Skill 11 D 20) in the First Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
We used jeeps mounted with M-60 machine guns.
We operated in scout teams of two jeeps, each jeep manned by three men, a driver, a team leader, and a gunner.
Later, we used M-113 armored personnel carriers equipped with Track-On-Wire (TOW) anti-tank wire guided missles, Browning M-2 .50 caliber machine guns, and M-60 machine guns.
Crewmen were armed with Colt Model 1911 .45 caliber pistols and M-3 .45 caliber "grease guns".
