A SONG YOU WON'T EVER HEAR ANYMORE

When I was stationed in Saigon with the Phu Lam Signal Battalion, I'd watch television (yes, I said, TELEVISION!) in our barracks, and each night when AFVN-TV signed off the air, they played the national anthems of the United States of America and the Republic of Viet Nam.

Since 30 April 1975, the Republic of Viet Nam no longer exists, and as a result, you aren't likely to get very many opportunities to hear their national anthem, so here it is, in an effort to preserve a bit of history.

Isn't it interesting that in the Eighteen Sixties, in the United States of America, the North invaded the South, my ancestor fought for the South, the South lost the war, and their nation ceased to exist?

Then exactly one century later, in the Nineteen Sixties, in Viet Nam, the North invaded the South, I fought for the South, the South lost the war, and their nation ceased to exist.

Wow!!!
