I visited the SHRINE OF THE BOOK in 1971 when I toured the land of Israel, while a soldier serving in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army on a special thirty day leave from the war in Viet Nam.

That trip was one of the most inspiring events in my life, and I highly recommend that experience for anyone and everyone who is able to go.

Indeed, it truly is "a combination of the Bible - - - and Hollywood"!

In addition to that, our mess hall had a very special treat for today - - - FRESH PEACHES!!! I saw the gal who runs our mess hall (I don't know her name - - - and rarely see her) and asked her when they were going to start serving "SOYLENT GREEN". I thought I'd have a bit of fun, because I was certain she was too young to get the joke, but I was surprised to find she actually knew what I was talking about! But, seriously, I suspect a portion of our medical clinic here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home is set aside as a processing plant for manufacturing "SOYLENT GREEN". After all, down on the main floor, there is an area for "Resident Storage", where we can safely keep our extra belongings in cages secured by padlocks. Well, right next door to the "Resident Storage" room is a room designated as - - - "DECEASED STORAGE"!!! I ain't never been inside that room, but I'm rather certain it must be chock FULL of all sorts of dead people - - - probably putrifying and in various stages of decay, huh? I enjoyed my meal sitting at a table out on the terrace, basking in the warm sunshine, as I gazed out to sea, hoping to see some ships (alas, there were none to be seen). But I did get a kick out of seeing the official United States Navy international maritime signal flags fluttering from the ship's mast flagpole in front of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, for they spelled out, "T.G.I.F." Nifty, huh? No, I didn't get to see the giant space satellite falling to Earth. Shucky darn! Then, I checked my mailbox and went to our Navy Exchange mini-mart to spend my last wrinkled crinkled dollar bill buying a large Hershey chocolate bar. Finally, I'm back in my room, just in time to step outside on my balcony and watch a nice eastbound CSX mixed manifest freight train go rumbling by. Boy, oh boy, oh boy, have I ever got it good! Why, I think I might even feel a wee bit sorry for folks who ain't me. Thank you. NATHAN HALE EXECUTED

Today is the two hundred and thirty-fifth (235th) anniversary of the execution of Nathan Hale, a twenty-one year old schoolmaster from Connecticut, and a captain in the Continental Army, who was hanged in New York City by the British Army on Sunday 22 September 1776 for being a spy during the American Revolutionary War.

His famous last words were,

"I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."

Why haven't we seen any recent news reports of TSA agents being beaten up or murdered?

What are you waiting for - - - , an engraved invitation?

C'mon, Folks, this is our Country we're talking about!

At the very least, their cars should be vandalized, and their homes subjected to burglary and firebombing.

You already know that the elections of 2012 and/or letters to the editor won't change anything.

Violent armed revolt is the only recourse left.

Our objective should not be to destroy or overthrow our government, but to RESTORE our lost republic, to RESTORE our divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America, to RESTORE the unalienable rights of the individual citizen, to RESTORE the sovereignty of the several states (including the right to secession), to RESTORE a capitalist free enterprise economy, and to RESTORE the traditional unapologetic white American values of Christian family morality.

Remember - - - , there's more of us than there are of them, and - - - , they have NO defense against unpredictable "Lone Wolf" attacks.

Arriving in the old Republic of Viet Nam on Friday 12 December 1969, I served in Saigon as a Field Radio Relay and Carrier Equipment Repair Specialist (MOS 31 L 20) at the Phu Lam Signal Battalion.

Later, I transferred to the 178th Maintenance Company at Dong Ha, and then I went to the 501st Signal Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" at Camp Eagle, near Hue and Phu Bai.

Today, I'm a disabled war veteran residing in Gulfport, Mississippi at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

All of the equipment I worked on and my Military Occupational Specialty are obsolete.

The units I served in no longer exist, having been deactivated or disbanded.

Ah, but time marches on.

"YEAH, I REMEMBER 9/11."

I remember when 3000 innocents were killed by Jihadis, and I am respectful of their memory. (No, I am not a "Truther.")

But mostly as I look back on the ten years since I am angry as much at the federal government as I am the Jihadis who killed innocent Americans then and continue to strive to do so now. I am angry because I also remember these things:

I remember that the Jihadis, ARMED WITH ONLY BOXCUTTERS, were able to get away with three of the four hijackings because they were operating in government-mandated victim disarmament zones.

I remember that, despite that, a scratch force of unarmed, no, make that DISarmed, American militiamen and women, foiled the targeting of the fourth group of hijackers.

I remember that the spirit of responsibility and resistance had by then been so bred out of the American citizenry that the Jihadis were able to succeed three out of four times. They counted on us being sheep and we proved them almost entirely right.

I remember that we were then told that this was a "War on Terror," not on Muslim Jihadis -- as if World War II was a "War on Blitzkrieg" or a "War on Naval Air Attacks at Dawn." I remember that we were told this by the government and the lap-dog media because the government decided it was politically incorrect to tell the truth.

I remember that the federal government -- of both parties -- used this as an excuse to rob us of even more liberties so that today the federal leviathan has even more power and we are fundamentally far less free than we were on 10 September 2001.

I remember that 11 September 2001 was, at its core, a failure of government and as a result we got MORE government.

Yeah, I remember 9/11.

I remember the blood, the carnage and the sacrifice. I remember the New York cops and firefighters charging into the twin towers. I remember Americans on Flight 93 rising to the occasion, even though disarmed by the government, to sell their lives as dearly as possible. I remember that armed citizens, passengers or pilots, randomly positioned on four mundane aircraft, could have prevented the whole thing, even had the Jihadis had firearms themselves.

Yeah, I remember 9/11.

I remember it as an abject failure of government for which the people -- then, now and in the future -- have paid, are paying and will continue to pay, the price of that failure.
