Comrades in Arms:
This day, Monday 11 November 2013, is VETERANS DAY.
Please remember that, in accordance with tradition, any and all scheduled Veterans Day activities and/or observances should only begin at precisely 1100 Hours on Monday 11 November 2013, i.e., the Eleventh Hour on the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month.
Memorial Day is when we solemnly pay homage to our deceased military members, and therefore, parades, fireworks, brass bands, parties, and celebrations are inappropriate.
Veterans Day is for honoring the living military veterans, and therefore, parades, fireworks, brass bands, parties, and celebrations are appropriate and expected.
Thank you.

UPDATE:
At 1000 Hours today, Monday 11 November 2013, there will be a Veterans Day ceremony at the flagpole in front of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Their logic (?) for scheduling the ceremony at 1000 Hours is that it will be 1100 Hours in the Eastern Time Zone!

UPDATE:
In response to my extremely presumptuous request, the Golden Corral restaurant in Fayetteville, North Carolina, arranged to have their free Veterans Day dinner picked up and delivered to my stepmother, Alma Capps Mallernee, who resides in the Assisted Living facility at Heritage Place.
