EINSTEIN PROJECT USER OF THE DAY

**************************************

Greetings and Salutations to All my Kith and Kin and All the Ships in Outer Space:

As many of you probably already know (because I've written about it previously), I volunteer my personal computer to assist universities in analyzing raw data collected for scientific research projects.

I just now received an e-mail from one of those research projects informing me thus:

Congratulations! You've been chosen as the Einstein@Home user of the day!

Your profile will be featured on the Einstein@Home website for the next 24 hours.
________________________________

Ain't that neat?

And, YOU can do this, too, with YOUR own personal computer!

You may select which projects you'd like to assist, as there are a whole big BUNCH of scientific research projects to choose from.

Once you've enrolled and installed the appropriate software programs, the data analyzing will be done continuously, using only a tiny portion of your computer's hard drive, leaving you free to continue doing other things on your computer (i.e., surfing the web, watching movies, playing games, composing e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, et cetera, ad infinitum).

At the moment, I'm participating in two (02) projects, the EINSTEIN PROJECT, which searches for radio pulsars in Outer Space, and the SEARCH for EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE PROJECT (i.e., "S.E.T.I."), which searches throughout Outer Space seeking radio signals indicating intelligent life on distant planets.

In the past few months, EINSTEIN volunteer home computers have discovered NUMEROUS radio pulsars.

However, I'm not a scientist or astro-physicist, so I have no idea what any of that means, or its significance regarding us.

I do know that in 1977, an intelligent radio signal, over thirty (30) times more powerful than anything on Earth, lasting for a little over a minute, was detected by the "Big Ear" radio telescope observatory at Ohio State University, coming from the Sagittarius constellation.

That was the famous "WOW!" signal featured (erroneously) in the famous Hollywood movie, "CONTACT".

The signal was not repeated, and since that moment, no other intelligent radio signals have been discovered.

However, as stated in my profiles for both EINSTEIN and S.E.T.I., my chosen faith, The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints (i.e., the "Mormon" church) teaches us that our Heavenly Father has created MANY worlds just like our own, and those worlds are populated with intelligent beings who look just like us, for according to our Holy Bible, we were all created in the image of our Father, who is in Heaven.

In addition to multiple planets, we must also consider multiple dimensions of our own planet, solar system, galaxy, and/or universe.

Hey, there's just a whole HEAP of stuff we don't yet know!

But, ain't it fun while we're trying to learn?

Nifty, huh?

Thank you.
