Did We Dodge A Bullet?

Greetings and Salutations to All my Kith and Kin and All the Ships in Outer Space:

I just had a thought.

What if all those grounded American Airlines planes are NOT truly being taken out of service due to normal safety inspections?

What if one of our intelligence agencies obtained information that one or more of our nation's enemies had successfully figured out a method of surrepticiously sabatoging commercial airliners, and had targeted American Airlines for propaganda purposes because of their name?

Maybe the hundreds of American Airlines "safety inspections" being reported in the news media are actually emergency implementation of counter measures to interdict and neutralize the nefarious efforts of saboteurs.

Maybe the detected threat is so imminently serious that our government doesn't want to reveal what's actually happening, lest the flying public be panicked.

Maybe our government weighed the odds and decided an indignant inconvenienced public was better than terminals overflowing with a multitude of frightened passengers, who might begin physically attacking anyone who is perceived to be Arab or Moslem.

Maybe the investigation is still going on, and our government doesn't want to jeopardize or reveal the manner in which they learned of this massive effort to sabotage American Airlines.

The smaller commuting airlines which have been forced out of business suffered an economic impact, as they were dependent on American Airlines.

Oh, that makes me think of another possibility.

Maybe it wasn't foreign saboteurs committing a heinous act of war.

Maybe it was a criminal conspiracy involving millions of dollars.

What if airport mechanics have been caught illegally selling and installing recycled aircraft parts?

Do you remember when there actually was such an incident a while back, reported by some television investigative news crew?

As a result, all affected airplanes have to immediately be grounded, and the used parts replaced by new ones.

American Airlines can successfully absorb the financial loss incurred by mandatory compliance, but the smaller commuter airlines can not, and so, they're out of business.

Again, because of the widespread effect of such corruption and fraud, the airline industry doesn't want the public to know the real reason.

Or, maybe a criminal investigation is still in progress, and prosecution attorneys don't want to prejudice a pending trial.

It's too bad that we have been so long subjected to so much deception, that we can no longer naively accept what our government representatives say, or what's reported on the news.

Instead, we have to read between the lines and speculate about what the truth might be.

So, what do YOU think is really going on?

Thank you.
