WHITEFOORD HOUSE

******************************
******************************

As the officially appointed bard of Clan Henderson, I've just now been requested to attempt initiating communication between the administrators of Whitefoord House in Edinburgh, Scotland and the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, with the view of possibly organizing some sort of exchange program, affording residents of both facilities an opportunity to visit each other's communities.

A similar exchange program already is in effect with the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. and the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, England.

SUDDEN SELF REALIZATION

***********************************************************
***********************************************************
Greetings and Salutations to All my Kith and Kin and All the Ships in Outer Space:

It's Wednesday 28 December 2011, and I just now woke up, suddenly realizing something.

The constant pain in my back is now even in my dreams when I'm sleeping!

Furthermore, in my dream, which was in full color, it was very much like real life - - - , i.e., I was a clumsy, absent minded old geezer who doesn't belong anywhere, and is in everybody else's way.

Wow!

What a realization to wake up to!

However, at the moment, I can still stand up and walk, and I can still ride the tricycle around the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi.

But, the pain never goes away, and it varies in intensity from time to time.

It does appear that I no longer can stand upright on a stage to strum my guitar and sing.

If I ever again perform in public, then I'll probably need to do it sitting in a chair, something I very much hate to do.

Anyway, it's getting so I'm lucky if I can sing at all, for now, I only sing a few songs before I start coughing.

I can't plan anything, because I don't know when I'll be awake and/or when I'll be asleep, or if I'm awake, will I be under the influence of the medicine I take?

Of course, one of the advantages of being elderly and RETIRED(!), is being able to throw your alarm clock in the garbage can, for you are no longer bound by any schedule, which now means you can sleep all day long, if you so choose.

Yet another surprising discovery about aging is that dreams become so vivid, it occasionally is difficult to discern what is reality, and what is merely a dream.

I wonder if that's a very early part of the mortal dying process, psychologically giving us more and more gradual glimpses into our future existence?

My loud and severe coughing spasms, which are probably due to my hiatal hernia, are getting more pronounced, and I still have episodes of mysterious, unexplained burning sensations on my skin, which originated a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, in the old Republic of Viet Nam, when I was a young soldier in the United States Army.

Maybe our military experiences in distant, exotic climes have an accelerating effect on our physical aging process?

After all, I'm one of the youngest guys living here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, and without any apparent rational explanation, it seems that I've rapidly aged and deteriorated.

What's more, I'm not the only one, for there are others whose physical health has rapidly gone downhill, even though they're relatively young.

My prescription medicines are long since gone, and I now rely solely on handfuls of over the counter pills that I buy in our Navy Exchange, although that is becoming expensive.

The doctor in our Armed Forces Retirement Home clinic has warned me that those pills will destroy my liver and kidneys, but what alternative do I have?

I finally have an appointment at the Veterans Administration Gulf Coast Health Care System in Biloxi, Mississippi - - - , scheduled for two (02) months from now.

I sometimes daydream of stuff I'd like to buy, such as equipment to enhance and update my obsolete medical trauma kit, my rescue tools, and my old military field gear.

But, guess what?

If I was able to do that, I'd have equipment that would be useless to me, for I no longer have the youth and healthful vigor to go rescue folks, save lives, and combat bad guys.

I'm completely out of the game - - - , sidelined forever.

That's a very harsh reality to have to confront.

Hey, you young guys out there - - - ,

When I was your age, I never thought about what life would be like when I got old.

I'll bet you never think of it, either.

Just like me, you're too busy having adventures and enjoying a good time.

Oh, yes, those injuries we get when we're young, that we quickly recover from?

When you get older, those healed injuries return to haunt you with all sorts of physical complications.

Here's yet another aspect about aging that none of us ever think of when we're young - - - ,

Over time, our kith and kin will die, one after another, leaving us survivors increasingly more isolated and alone.

Plus, seeing all of your peers pass on continually reinforces the reality of your own temporary mortality.

Yes - - - , YOU and I are going to kick the bucket.

There ain't none of us gettin' outta here alive!

Well, mox nix.

Life goes on.

But, I reckon it'll just have to go on without you, me, or us, huh?

Xin loi.

For the best effect, please be sure and enjoy watching, in "FULL SCREEN" mode, my homemade amateur video recording of ME (!), accompanying myself by strumming simple chords on my Yamaha G-130A classical guitar, while singing, "SUICIDE IS PAINLESS", the theme song from the 1970 Hollywood motion picture production and television series, "M*A*S*H".

Written by a fourteen (14) year old boy, the lyrics refer to a lonely, depressed dentist serving with the United States Army in the Republic of Korea, whose nickname is, "Suicide", and who specializes in pain free dentistry.

"SONG FROM M*A*S*H
(SUICIDE IS PAINLESS)"

Lyrics by: MIKE ALTMAN
Music by: JOHNNY MANDEL

VERSE # 01:
Through early morning fog, I see
Visions of the things to be.
The pains that are withheld from me,
I realize and I can see,

CHORUS:
Suicide is painless.
It brings on many changes,
And I can take or leave it if I please.

VERSE # 02:
I try to find a way to make
All our little joys relate
Without that ever-present hate.
But, now, I know that it's too late.

VERSE # 03:
The game of life is hard to play.
I'm gonna lose it anyway.
The losing card, I'll someday lay.
So, this is all I have to say,

VERSE # 04:
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat,
And to another, give my seat,
For that's the only painless feat.

VERSE # 05:
The sword of time will pierce our skins.
It doesn't hurt when it begins.
But, as it works its way on in,
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin.

VERSE # 06:
A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key.
"Is it to be, or not to be?",
And I replied, "Oh, why ask me?"

"TED E. BAIR"

Words and Music by:
JOHN ROBERT MALLERNEE

VERSE # 01:
He will face any dare
Any time, anywhere.
If there's danger,
He don't care,
Ted E. Bair!
He's a vet of Uncle Sam,
Did his tour in Viet Nam.
Now, he's always
Where I am,
Ted E. Bair.

VERSE # 02:
I'm a man who stays alone
And my mind's a combat zone.
But, I'm not left on my own.
Ted E. Bair!
When the night is long and hard,
Ted E. Bair is standing guard.
He's my buddy
And my pard,
Ted E. Bair!

BRIDGE:
He is always by my side
With both eyes open wide.
He don't grumble, he don't moan.
He just keeps on keeping on.
In any ill or any plight,
Ted E. Bair can make it right!

VERSE # 03:
He is silent when I'm mad
And says nothing when I'm bad.
He's the best friend, I have had,
Ted E. Bair!
When I'm sleeping in my car
Or I'm singing in some bar,
I know he's not going far,
Ted E. Bair!

CODA:
Ted E. Bair! My teddy bear!
Always there, you teddy bear,
So I know that you care,
My teddy bear,
Oh, Ted E. Bair!
Ted E. Bair!

CLERK DECKS ARMED ROBBER ! ! !

******************************
******************************
We need to see more news reports like this one!

This remarkably unusual incident occurred just before closing time on Friday 23 December 2011 at the We Buy Gold store in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

For the best effect, please be sure and enjoy watching this news video in "FULL SCREEN" mode.

There are numerous videos of this incident posted all over the Internet, and I don't know where this one originated, or else, I would gladly attribute proper credit.

The best video, which was aired by WYFF-TV Channel 4 in Greenville, South Carolina, did not provide an embedding code to be copied.

I copied the text of this report from the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES web site, and wherever possible, I have inserted appropriate automatic Internet links. _________________________

HENDERSONVILLE, North Carolina
(Associated Press)

Police say a would-be robber who demanded money from a store clerk got a fistful instead. And then he had to clean up his own blood.

Before the robber could run off with any cash, the clerk at the We Buy Gold store in Hendersonville punched him in the nose on Friday. Sergeant Dale Patton with the Hendersonville Police Department tells the Times-News of Hendersonville that 25-year-old Mostafa Kamel Hendi dropped to the floor.

The clerk, Derek Mothershead, told WYFF-TV Channel 4 about the robbery:

"When he came through the door, he told me had a gun and he even flashed it.", Mothershead told the television station. "I stood up and threw my hands up and said, 'Take the money.'

"I got the money and he had the bag out and instead of putting it in the bag, I stuck it out and said, 'Just take it.' So, when he reached out, I took a step in, I cocked back and preloaded and I hit him hard."

Mothershead said he grabbed the robber’s gun - - - and realized it was a pellet gun.

"When I pulled it out of his waistband, I started laughing", said Mothershead. "I said, 'Man, you came in here with a fake gun?'"

Mothershead called police. While they were waiting, Mothershead gave the man a roll of power towels, sprayed the floor with cleaner and told him to clean up his own blood, according to the TV station.

Patton says the clerk was on high alert because the store had already been robbed once recently. Authorities are looking into whether Hendi was involved in that heist.

Mostafa Kamel Hendi
Jail records did not list an attorney for Hendi. He was being held on $100,000 bond.

MY LETTER TO "DESERET NEWS"

**************************
**************************

NOTE: What follows is my letter to the editor of the DESERET NEWS in Salt Lake City, Utah, which for rather obvious reasons, they probably will NOT publish.

_________________________

Editor:

Just now, at the "Sipsey Street Irregulars" web site, owned and operated by Mike Vanderboegh, I read that Attorney General Eric Holder, "of African-American descent", will be speaking on Friday 13 January 2012 in West Valley City, Utah at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Commission luncheon, currently scheduled for 1130 Hours at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.

Hmmmm - - - Friday the Thirteenth?

According to the news report, which was obtained from "The Examiner" web site, where it was written and posted by Salt Lake City native, Alison Peek, event organizers are seeking a larger facility, due to the expectation of massive crowds.

In response, political protest demonstrations and "nonviolent"(?) disruptions are being encouraged.

In my own mind, I see a number of things wrong with both the planned event and the posted Internet news report.

Yes, although hardly anyone will admit it, there is a huge racial aspect to this formal speaking engagement.

The biggest problem of all is freedom of expression, allegedly one of our unalienable rights guaranteed by Amendment I of The Constitution of The United States of America, for in today's contemporary society, we are cursed with the compulsory Marxist doctrine of "politically correct" speech.

A fine example of that problem is the question of whether or not this letter to the editor can be published in its entirety within the pages of this or any other newspaper.

But, that doesn't matter, as I am blessed to have my own personal web site on the Internet, so that even if my unpopular and controversial opinions are rejected by the mainstream mass media, folks all around the world can still read my thoughts regarding this and various other subjects.

First of all, I just read Eric Holder's biography.

He was born in Bronx, New York, so he is NOT an African-American.

It is wrong to refer to black people as "African-American", since many persecuted white refugees from Africa have become our true African-Americans.

Second, Eric Holder is currently under congressional investigation and is known to be responsible for the smuggling of firearms into Mexico, which were used to murder many, many Mexican citizens, plus murdering at least one, and possibly more United States citizens.

There's even an unproven allegation that Eric Holder was involved in a failed FBI sting operation which led to the bombing of the Murrah Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City (for which I continue to hold our federal government responsible for having placed a child care center in a military target).

Third, the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday is a travesty, since he was a plagiarist, fraud, con artist, adulterer, communist, and a criminal, who spent his last hours on Earth drunk and beating up white prostitutes.

I also blame him, among numerous others, for unnecessarily causing additional American military casualties by prolonging the war in Viet Nam and further aggravating the racial conflicts within the military ranks.

I reckon I ought to know, having personally lived through all those years of the 'Sixties, and served in Viet Nam.

Martin Luther King, Jr. wasn't even his real name, was it?

Ironically, he did get one thing right, which now puts all black people, guilty or innocent, under the embarrassing glare of the same brilliant spotlight.

He wanted black people to be judged, not for the color of their skin, but for "the content of their character".

Lo, and behold, every day, we see more and more news reports detailing the "content of their character", and its stark contrast to the behavior of other racial and/or ethnic groups.

It's time someone started telling the truth about race and political correctness, and it seems that, at the moment, that is only happening on the Internet.

Possibly because of fear of mob violence or government tyranny, the mainstream mass media sure isn't doing it.

All men are not equal, and all races are not the same, and there is nothing wrong with being racially prejudiced.

Our inner sense of racial prejudice, reinforced by personal observation and experience, is a natural instinct given to us by our Almighty God for our personal protection.

I do hope that when Eric Holder appears in Utah, that someone will request that he address the Constitutional issues surrounding the National Defense Authorization Act, the U.S.A. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, and the abuses of the DHS, the TSA, and the BATFE bureaucracies.

Yes, in this particular instance, at the very least, organized protests and disruptions, whether peaceful or not, are certainly justified and appropriate.

I just wish I could be there to do my part, insignificant, minute, and futile though it might be.

Thank you.
