"STARFIRE"

For the best effect, please be sure and watch, in "FULL SCREEN" mode, my homemade amateur video recording of ME (!), accompanying myself by strumming simple chords on my Yamaha G-130A classical guitar, as I sing, "STARFIRE", an original song that I composed.

"STARFIRE"

Words and Music by:
JOHN ROBERT MALLERNEE
Friday 02 May 1975

VERSE # 01:
Starfire was an Indian maid,
Pretty as any could see.
She was proud of her noble birth,
For she was a Cherokee.
Many braves sought
To win her hand
And take her for a wife.
But, she loved a Texas cowboy,
And this would cost her life.

CHORUS:
Starfire,
Rise to Heaven above.
Your desire
Was just to find true love.

VERSE # 02:
Two Knives danced before the sun.
He was the strongest brave.
He vowed that he would win Starfire
Or fill the cowboy's grave.
He met her where
The river runs
Near the mountain slope.
He said, "Starfire, give me of your love.
The cowboy's not your hope."

VERSE # 03:
The cowboy came upon them then,
His challenge rang out clear.
As the two men met to fight,
Starfire watched in fear.
Two Knives was the strongest,
But, the cowboy had the speed.
They both died there in their lust
And Starfire saw the deed.

VERSE # 04:
Left there on the mountain slope
With her lover gone,
She could see no happiness
In living life alone.
She dove into the river
As she made her final vow.
She would go up unto her love
And she is with him now.
