Sixty-eight (68) years ago, on this date, MONDAY 07 MAY 1945, the Third Reich surrendered unconditionally to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force, officially ending the Second World War in the European Theater of Operations.

Combat continued in the Pacific Theater of Operations as the Empire of Japan would not surrender until Sunday 02 September 1945.
